Flute Reed River - 2010 Tree Planting

In 2009 we planted 1,100 white pine, black and white spruce on five different private properties along the Flute Reed River. This year we’re going to plant over 1,300!

Meet your neighbors and help plant trees on Saturday May 1 and/or May 8. It’s fun working and eating together in the woods. Imagine the Flute Reed valley in 50 years with all these large pine and spruce.

We will provide the trees and the materials, plus a free box lunch! We'll meet at 9:00 am at the Hovland Town Hall each Saturday. Wear old clothes, an old coat and sturdy boots. Bring gloves, a hat and raingear. We’ll have safety glasses and planting equipment. (Sorry, but our insurance coverage requires everyone to be 14 years or older.)

In 2008 the Flute Reed Partnership organized the planting of almost 500 white pine and white spruce on five different properties along the Flute Reed River.
