The red clay that makes up a lot of our “topsoil” is easily erodable. Wherever Amity Creek cuts down through red clay, the stability of its banks can be a problem. During rain events this clay washes into the stream, leading to very cloudy water conditions. The larger particles surround and partially bury the stream rocks, leading to poor habitat conditions for bugs and fish.
